How Much Does an Opioid Treatment Program Typically Cost?

    MichaelBy MichaelJune 8, 2022Updated:February 8, 2023No Comments3 Mins Read

Opioid abuse has so many adverse effects on the user and society. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that anyone with an opioid problem goes through a treatment program to minimize the risk of causing harm to themselves or the people around them.

Treatment programs designed for opioids can be expensive, but it all depends on the specific program you choose. Most of them range between $400 and $50000. However, various factors affect the treatment pricing, including the specific programs that a rehabilitation center offers and amenities. Let us discuss those factors.

    Different Opioid Treatment Programs Available

    1. The Detox Program

Detoxing involves getting rid of all the drugs in your system and effectively dealing with the withdrawal symptoms bound to come after the detox. This process could take one month or more, depending on how many drugs you had. The average cost of this type of program is somewhere between $250 and $800. That cost covers thirty days, which is usually the most common duration of a detox program.

    2. Inpatient Treatment Program

Inpatient opioid treatment programs could cost as high as $250000 depending on the duration of the stay and the kind of rehabilitation center. This program involves staying in a residential rehabilitation center for a particular time and getting around-the-clock supervision and care. However, a 30-day inpatient treatment program in a standard recovery center could cost anything between $2000 and $20000.

    3. Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program

Outpatient opioid treatment programs are treatments done on an individual living at home. They can attend several appointments with the doctor in a month but still go back home after the appointment. Intensive outpatient programs are those that need more and longer appointments. The cost for the intensive programs is definitely more than that of the standard outpatient programs.

    4. Medication-Assisted Opioid Treatment Program

There are different forms of medical-assisted opioid treatment programs. One of those treatments is buprenorphine-assisted treatment with two weekly visits and medication. The other one is methadone-assisted treatment with daily medical and psychological support. There is also the naltrexone-assisted treatment that is all about drug administration. Costs vary for each program, with the last one having the highest overall cost.

    5. Free Treatment Programs

You do not always have to pay for rehab. You can make use of free programs like support groups. Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous are some of the most common cost-free treatment programs for drug abuse. They may not be as effective as going to a recovery facility, but they provide a supportive community to help you recover from drug abuse.

    Conclusion

The facility you choose to go to or take your loved one to depends on a few factors, including the money you have or the insurance they accept. It is upon you to find out all that crucial information before joining any opioid treatment programs to get the most out of your treatment. Also, remember to look at the programs they offer to know which treatment facility suits your needs best.
