    Smart Ways to Make Your Home Energy Efficient

    One of the things that is very important for people to know is that, they should stop spending their money on paying the electricity bills. There has been recent increase in the cost of energy and many people have become aware of the use of electricity the use of lights, cooktop and laundry. So, there are a plethora of measures which you can take to save or lower your energy bill. Let’s look at some of the ways in which you can lower your electricity bill.     Using Dishwasher –

    Compared to hand washing, washing the utensils using a dishwasher is much better. Though a dishwasher uses electricity, but one of the things that you will know is that it saves more energy, water, time and money compared to hand washing. As per the California Energy Commission, if a person uses energy star qualified dishwasher, then they can save around 5,000 galloons of water and also you save $40 in the utility cost every year on an average.

    Air Drying Dishes –

    Instead of drying your dishes in the dishwasher, you can open the door and allow your dishes to air dry. If the dishwasher that you are using has an option of air drying, then instead of choosing the heat dry option, you can choose an air-dry option. Your dishwasher’s energy can be reduced by 15% to around 50% as per the California energy commission.

    Load Correctly –

    The dishwasher energy saving tip will not work or save electricity if you have to repeat the task. The dishes will not get clean. So, you need to make sure that you load the dishes correctly. For instance, you should place the cups upside down, put the plates in the bottom rack and so on.

    Using a Fan –

    As per the US Natural Resource Defence Council, using a fan instead of air conditioner is much better because, a ceiling fan can make your room 10-degree Fhr. cooler and besides that a fan uses 10% of the energy which a central air conditioner does.

    Using Smart Bulbs –

    If you are still using the old bulbs and not switched to LED lights then it’s the time now. As per the US Department of Energy, the LED lights are using 75% less energy. And, one of the best things you will know is that, it lasts 25 times longer compared to the other lights. Which is again saving you the energy over time.

    Turn off the Burner after Some time Early –

    As per the California Energy Commission, if you switch off the burner a little early, then the stove will give enough heat in which you can complete the cooking and also save the electricity. This tip has worked for many dishes though you can also find exceptions.

    Put a Dimmer –

    If you use a dim light, then one of the things that you will know is that it will reduce the output and wattage and this will in turn help in saving the energy as per the Department of Energy, US. Another thing, you will know about the dimmer is that it can be controlled by various apps like that of wall wireless smart lighting kit by Lutron Caseta, this way you can adjust the lights and save electricity no matter where you are.

    Smart Plug –

    You may feel that the electronic and appliances which you are using are energy saving, but the fact is that they might be using more electricity than you can imagine. So, use only energy efficient and saving electronic and appliances only.
